General Information

Are you putting your Medicare decision at risk?

When I was growing up, my family lived in a simple house at the bottom of steep hill. This hill was covered in beautiful trees and was near a creek that usually sat dry and empty. As you could imagine, my siblings and I spent a lot time outside.

We would find ways to spend hours outside doing things like riding our bikes, playing on the swing set and making up imaginary games with the other kids in our neighborhood.

When we had severe rain storms, our favorite activity was going to the nearby creek and seeing how high it was from all the collected rain water.

After one of the huge storms hit, I remember that my brother and I went down to the creek as soon as the weather calmed. We were so excited and loved seeing how fast the water was flowing and so we began throwing sticks into the current to see how fast it moved.

It was like our own adventure!

My brother and I were having a great time when all of a sudden we heard loud shout come from behind us. As soon as I looked back, I saw my dad quickly coming up behind us demanding that we move away from the water.

We had no idea why he was ending our fun adventure. From what we could tell we were a safe distance and having a blast.

But he saw something different.

The water was incredibly high and moving so fast and what we didn’t know was that the wrong step would have landed us in the water, which would have been extremely dangerous.

My dad saw a risk that we never realized. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful that he looked out for us and protected us before anything went wrong.

Now 30 years later, the roles have reversed in some ways. For example, I see the Medicare risks that he doesn’t. It’s a true privilege to guide him through his Medicare decisions to avoid things that are a risk that he doesn’t recognize.

Many people look to insurance companies for guidance, but insiders know they usually aren’t looking out for your best interest. While the Social Security office can be a good place to learn Medicare rules, they aren’t able to give you advice on which plan is right for you.

That’s why I love the Medicare Coach. We are able to provide advice and guidance to help you easily navigate Medicare games and insurance company rules so that you can make the right decision for your situation
