Why your Medicare decision doesn’t come with a ‘redo’ button

One of my favorite things to do at the Medicare Coach is answering incoming phone calls. I love being able to talk to people, whether it’s one of our amazing clients or being able to talk to a new person and hear a new story.

Back in October, during Medicare‘s open enrollment period, I took a call from a gentleman who was in tears, asking for help. I knew right away it wasn’t going to be an enjoyable call, but I was hoping that I could do something to help him.

He detailed how he and his wife had joined a Medicare Advantage plan the year before, and based on the advertisements and insurance agent, they thought it would save them a ton of money.

However, this was not what happened.

They were hemorrhaging thousands of dollars on this Medicare Advantage plan because it didn’t cover their medications, it had high deductibles, there were never-ending co-pays, and it didn’t cover some services.

All of which was a complete surprise to them.

He had called us desperate for help. He NEEDED a new plan because their retirement savings was draining.

Based on our four-step process, I knew that he was better off on Original Medicare with a supplement plan and a Medicare Part D plan. But, due to Medicare insurability rules, he wasn’t going to be able to switch.

The best we could do was find a better Medicare Advantage plan for them, but it wouldn’t be what they needed.

These calls kill me, and we get them all the time.

What frustrates me most about Medicare is that all the information you are getting is from biased insurance companies who want you to buy their plans.

They don’t tell you the full story on Medicare.

As the leading unbiased Medicare expert, I am here to help you understand your options when you first join Medicare.

Unfortunately, there isn’t really a “redo” button on your decision, so I want you to get it right the first time.

I want you to protect your healthcare rights and retirement savings.
